Webcomic Secret Santa Exchange: Michelle Mau
Today’s comic is thanks to the wonderful Michelle Mau of Band Geeks Anonymous (as well as her other comic, Loud Era)! This was her gift to me in the 2010 Web Comic Secret Santa Exchange. She has Chris point out something that surprisingly has yet to be mentioned in the comic and has not been brought up by fans until now, at least to my knowledge.
If you want to see my contribution to the Web Comic Secret Santa Exchange, head on over to Prepare To Die, a fantastic comic by Michael Dellheim about three players of Weapons & Wizards who get sucked into their own game and realize it’s not quite following their script…

Down Through The Chimney
First of all, a very merry Christmas to you and yours!
Secondly, be sure to check out the site tomorrow for the special Webcomic Secret Santa Exchange!
And thirdly, I really don’t want to know how that candy cane will taste after being in the chimney. Although what better way for Percy to make an entrance?
Have fun!

Battling The Storm
That sled is amazing. I love the snow effect that I was able to add. The fact that the snow increases in each panel also turned out really nice, even if it was unintent–I mean, I totally planned that! Yeah!

Takeoff!

Rubber mallets are amazing props. And for those of you blaming me for copying Doctor Who (particularly in light of the last story arc), I was using a rubber mallet as a prop in my daily life long before I watched a single episode.
I felt that all of Percy’s family should be shown during this arc, given that Christmas is a time for family. This is likely the last you’ll see of them this Christmas, however.
For some reason, I find the idea of naming the cylinders of an engine hilarious.
Also, yay for fun new fonts!
Have fun!

Father-Son Time

What’s this? A full-color comic? As a Christmas bonus, the comic will be in full color. And because of this, some minor character design tweaks are being made, such as Percy’s hair. This makes it SO much easier to color! This is also an experiment to see how viable a full-color comic would be.

Percy: Ever The Skeptic
AH! So that bit about Matt Smith dressed as David Tennant DID have a point!
Tried to introduce some perspective for this comic. Panel one turned out better than past experiments, but I still have a ways to go. However, the second improvement to the comic turned out FANTASTIC! I got some comic-based fonts from BlamBot, and I think they look beautiful! They beat the overused Comic Sans, anyway.
The comment about the screwdriver in panel 4 is a bit of a jab at Doctor Who. The Fifth Doctor went “hands-free” because the producers felt that the sonic screwdriver was becoming a cure-all, and it did not return until very shortly before the Seventh Doctor’s regeneration. From the Ninth Doctor on, it has been the most-used item on the show and has far more capabilities than before. I love the sonic screwdriver, but it has become way too overused in my opinion.
Have fun!
