The Dream Of Every Geek
Ref: Holly and Ichabod
Welcome to the first flashback of Spoofy Randomness! I’m assuming most of you didn’t do much conclusion-jumping when Ichabod spoke to Holly back then, and I’m pretty sure those of you that did hadn’t counted on him being an alien. My original intention was to show Ichabod occasionally sending a snarky comment to Holly throughout the coming years, but not speaking to anyone else on-panel. While I like this idea, I needed to push the development of Ichabod faster for reasons that will be revealed in the next comic.
On the note of flashbacks by the way, I was surprised to see how much my art has improved. There’s only slightly over three months since Panel 1 was first shown, yet the differences are clear. That made me happy!

Awkward Percy
Ref: She is an English major, after all.
It was brought to my attention that it wasn’t exactly clear who Ichabod had transformed into the second time. I altered the appearance of Percy’s sister Holly slightly to make her hair look a little better. This of course can be explained in comic continuity as Holly styling her hair differently; in all likelihood she probably would change something about her appearance on a regular basis. This also all but confirms that Ichabod was the third mystery “person” and he was in Holly’s form (hence Nikki’s comment on how he didn’t become her clone). This comic also reveals the significance of the splash page, as Holly and Nikki are Ichabod’s only two (known) forms.

Nice Phone
Lots of new stuff in this comic! For starters, I’m trying a new look with Percy’s glasses. Not exactly a drastic change, but I think this looks a little nicer. Also, as is apparent in panel 4, I am playing with Google Sketchup to make backgrounds of certain places. More places will get filled in as I find time to do so (PB&J’s is currently in the works). The Middle of Nowhere was a simpler design, so that’s why it got the honor of being my test run over more significant landscapes like the tower room or PB&J’s. The fact that it is in greyscale means something will likely change…
Also, the name “Middle of Nowhere” was inspired by the name of a bar in my town called “Someplace Else”. I thought “Middle of Nowhere” was a good name for a bar, but in order to use it in Spoofy Randomness, they obviously needed to serve something else besides alcohol. Neither myself nor my characters drink, so the grill part of the restaurant was added.
Have fun!
